Production

For my production I ended up using a different room then that was used in the storyboard this was due to someone being in the original room used in the storyboard, this therefore meant I had to use different angled shots and a few different match on action cuts as they would not work in the new area that was originally planned. For my production task I used to actors for the production but then also used a narrator for the start of the production

Pre Production

For my pre production task using a Digital SLR camera I planned out the film using a story board. In the story board I used the camera to be able to take pictures of the shots and areas of which I would be filming the production. This gave me an idea of what angles and match on action shots would be needed in order to pass the continuity task and therefore have no jumps in the filming.

Continuity Editing

Continuity editing is the main style of editing now used by most mainstream editors. The goal of continuity editing is to make the work of the editor as invisible as possible so as to make you forget you’re watching a TV show and immerse yourself more fully within the programme. This should make the experience more enjoyable either by increasing your emotional empathy with the characters or making the text appear more realistic. The viewer should not notice the cuts, and shots should flow together naturally. Hence, the sequence of shots should appear to be continuous.

Preliminary Task – Video Production

For my preliminary task it will be a continuity task involving filming and editing a person walking into a room and sitting opposite someone else, with whom she then exchanges a discussion on a chosen subject. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

In addition to this exam board requirement, please include a cutaway and a 'cut in'.  Please ensure that these flow properly and are reasonably relevant to the conversation taking place.
